A big focus of mine as a menopause guide/coach is to help women feel their absolute best during this transition in life. I think women enter this stage with the predetermined belief that they’re going to be miserable for the rest of their lives instead of seeing this as a positive stage where they can experience lots of joy. Therefore, I want to encourage you to shift your mindset, get rid of those stereotypical beliefs and decide today that you’re going to experience JOY in the midst of challenge! Take a look at some of my examples below: 

Here are 10 way to practice self care!

Practice mindfulness and meditation. What are you thankful for today? Instead of focusing on the negative, look at the positive. Take time to reflect and truly meditate on your gratefulness.

Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. If you are struggling in this area, there are natural ways to enhance your sleep and give you a more positive outlook each day when you wake up fully rested. I’ve experienced this and want you to as well! I didn’t realize the brain fog and loss of energy was caused by my lack of sleep.  Eat a healthy and balanced diet. I have been on a keto diet plan for 6 months now and have experienced more lean muscle mass, greater energy and a decrease in joint pain caused by too many carbs, namely sweets.  Stay hydrated. This almost sounds too simple but it is so very important. Take your body weight and divide in half. This is how many ounces of water you need daily. Set a timer on your phone or watch to remind you to drink water every 2 hours! Your body will thank you!

Engage in regular exercise. I suggest at least 30 mins of any exercise of choice to keep your heart rate up and to burn some calories! I love tennis so this keeps me active and getting the regular exercise I need. So find something you enjoy to stay consistent!

Spending time in nature. This may go along with mindfulness and meditation but is an idea of a way to change your focus from the symptoms of menopause to something enjoyable.

 Connect with loved ones. Another way to change your focus from the negative to positive. Also makes you more thankful for those you love!

Try new hobbies or activities. This is so fun! If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do but have never taken the time, DO IT NOW!
